Tendering
Once the tender documentation has been completed, we can prepare a list of suitable contractors and forward copies of the documentation to them. The list is often compiled from a combination of sources, including recommendations from the design team and the Employer.
The tender documents are forwarded to the shortlisted contractors. On most projects, the tendering contractors will have the opportunity to visit the project site and to meet the prospective client, before completing their tender. We respond to any queries that are raised during the tender stage and forward any additional or amended information.
At the end of the tender period, we review the tenders received and any alternatives that are proposed. We will then prepare a report and make a recommendation. Following receipt of tenders, it may on occasion be necessary to make amendments to the proposals or to enter into negotiations.
Once the contractor selection has been made, we hold a pre-start meeting which is an opportunity for all team members to meet, sometimes for the first time. It is at this point that any outstanding matters are finalised and the contract is signed. The contract documents form a basepoint and are the basis for valuing any changes that might occur during the contract.
